The Neuroscience of Health and Performance
Science & Cocktails is proud to present an episode with world renowned neuroscientist Andrew Huberman, Professor at Stanford University School of Medicine, host of the Huberman Lab Podcast, who will be speaking about the neuroscience behind health and performance, how to achieve your goals and improve your body function. To ease your way into this subject, Henrik Sundh will present his project Rudekulle and Carla Schack / Batukizer DJ set spins some records.
How does the body control the brain? What is the fastest and best science supported tool to control stress? How does the brain orient us in time? Are there ways to learn faster? How are traumas stored and removed from our mind?
Neuroscience can seem intimidating — but understanding basic principles can allow you to hack and upgrade your brain. The way we think and behave is reliant on the way our brain processes information, and how we bridge the gap between the present and the future. Andrew Huberman is an expert in hacking the brain.
Even outside of a pandemic, many people struggle with maintaining healthy amounts of quality sleep and managing stress. The good news is that neuroscience offers interventions to help improve our physical and mental health. Professor Huberman discusses ongoing research from his lab, including practical applications that everyone at any age can use to manage stress and sleep better. He will also discuss fascinating connections with our ability to learn.
Andrew Huberman is a neuroscientist and associate professor of neurobiology and ophthalmology at the Stanford University School of Medicine. He has made numerous important contributions to the fields of brain development, nervous system function, and neural plasticity (the ability to rewire our nervous system). His lab’s most recent work focuses on understanding the human neural circuits that underlie states such of stress, focus, sleep and non-sleep rest states.
Event held in English with the generous support of The Lundbeck Foundation and the Brain Prize awarded by The Lundbeck Foundation.

Andrew Huberman
Andrew is a neuroscientist and tenured Professor in the Departments of Neurobiology, Ophthalmology and Psychiatry, at Stanford University School of Medicine. He has made numerous important contributions to the fields of brain development, nervous system function, and neural plasticity (the ability to rewire our nervous system). His lab’s most recent work focuses on the influence of vision and respiration on internal states such as stress, focus, and sleep. He has continually published in ultra-stringent, peer-reviewed journals such as Nature, Science, and Cell over the last 20 years. Huberman is also actively involved in developing tools now in use by professional athletes for optimizing performance in high stress environments, enhancing neural plasticity and learning speed, stress mitigation and sleep enhancement.
Professor Huberman hosts the Huberman Lab Podcast to educate the general public about the science of brain function, brain-body interactions and emerging therapeutics for human mental and physical health. Huberman Lab Podcast is the #1 Health and Fitness Podcast world-wide (all languages) on Apple and Spotify and regularly in the top 10 of all podcast categories (out of ~5M podcasts). His tutorials on YouTube have been viewed more than 200M times in the last 24 months. Dr Huberman maintains the largest scientist-hosted social media site worldwide on Instagram @hubermanlab (~1.1M followers) as a zero-cost-to-consumer venue to share that information in order to educate the public.
Andrew is a standing member on the grants review panel for the National Institutes of Health and on the Editorial Boards of Cell Reports, Current Biology, Journal of Comparative Neurology, Neural Development and is a member of Faculty of 1000.
